About me
I’m a public health expert, academic and dietitian. My area of expertise is mental health, specifically, body confidence and physical activity. I have a doctorate degree in co-creation and participatory research with girls and young women, translating evidence into practical youth programmes.
More importantly, working as a dietitian and public health expert I gained a deep understanding of how complex is the relation between health and weight, and how often, we are made to believe they are the same. Adding appearance pressures to this no wonder every patient and person I worked with was struggling and feeling their bodies were not good enough.
I have a deep understanding of the pressures around food and on how we feel, and think about our bodies.
As Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor, I work with my clients in letting go of dieting and finding health-supporting behaviours while improving their relationship with food and their body. I’m a certified facilitator on The Body Project, a scientifically proven way to improve body image, boost mood, and reduce disordered eating, with effects lasting years later.
I have over a decade of experience working with underserved communities in Mexico and internationally on projects spanning body image, maternal health, and menstruation, my past clients and collaborators include Oxfam, UNICEF, Dove, ULTA Beauty, Nike, Save the Children and Action Against Hunger.
I'm Mexico City born, and after living in London, Norwich and New York I now reside in Nairobi. I love travelling, cooking, dancing, travelling, reading historical fiction, and spending time with my husband, my 6-year old daughter and our kitten Zuri. Here we are on our trip to Yellowstone last year!
